After a yearlong absence, Technoir returns to help commemorate two decades in operation and twenty consecutive years of Christmas night Techno celebrations with it’s 20th Annual Christmas Party at New Guernica!
Our Christmas night party has been a fixture of the clubbing calendar in this city across 3 decades now, as we rack up the big number 20 this year.
Way back in 2005 when we first tackled the somewhat unorthodox idea of a thumping Techno party on Christmas night, we had absolutely no idea of what an institution it would go on to become over the next 20 years.
We are very excited to host this significant piece of our extended history in the lush New Guernica for the first time, as we take over two rooms with some of our town’s best DJs.
Making their Technoir debut, we are so excited to welcome Montaña Azul, Caity Watson and Royboy.
Returning to the booth once again, we are so happy to be hosting returning guests Matt Radovich, PWD, Qualé, Alien-A, as well as Technoir founder DJ Time who will be making his first appearance in 16 years.
Alongside all these amazing DJs, we are also lucky enough to be joined by fantastic BlueMD, who will be providing exceptional live visuals over the course of the night.
Technoir has always been about providing a space for people from all walks of life to come together to express and revel in a deep love of Techno, with the focus strongly placed on the dance floor.
Whether you’re trying to forget the day (or the whole season in general) or want to continue the celebrations, Technoir is the place to go for all your Techno needs this Christmas!

After a bit of a quiet 2023, Technoir is back on deck to host it’s 19th Annual Christmas Party at Sub Club!
An institution can be defined as ‘an established practice’ and after 18 straight years of this event, we think we’ve earned the right to call our Christmas night event an institution.
From humble beginnings at Lounge in 2005, where the event ran until 2018, to the past 4 years at Colour (somehow not breaking the tradition during a global pandemic), Technoir has hosted a special space on Christmas night for thousands of people to come together and lose (or find) themselves in the warm glow of the dance floor. This year we are excited to host the event in the infamous Sub Club for the first time!
Making his Technoir debut, we are eager to welcome Torü Szafar, who will be joining us from the northern rivers are of NSW. One half of the duo ‘Fütwerk’, Torü will be delivering some beautifully deep and hypnotic sounds to ease us into the affair.
Returning to the stage once again we are so happy to be hosting Technoir favourites Hyper Binary, Xanthraxx and Qualé; all of whom have always delivered the highest quality Techno goods when on board.
As always, Technoir residents Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer will be providing the backbone of the night.
And for the first time in several years, we are so happy to be joined by the incredible BlueMD, who will be providing exceptional visual stimulation throughout the event.
Whether you’re trying to forget the day (or the whole season in general) or want to continue the celebrations, Technoir is the place to go for all your Techno needs this Christmas!

MACHINE & TECHNOIR celebrate this July as we respectably host our birthdays, Machine 14 Years & Technoirs 18 Years , as we present another specially curated night of all things techno that will breathe depth and quality, spanning time, space and sound.
It’s not every day the opportunity comes around to stand in the sound of an artisan electronic practioner. Xavier Morel is one such artist that will favour Melbournians with such an opportunity, as he headlines this night.

Music and art can very much touch us with the essence of symmetry, balance, fluidity, cohesion whilst their counterparts: dis-juncture, chaos, inertia, provide the tension that makes for the through line: Story.
No wonder then that Morel, a verteran of over 35 years as a producer and dj speaks in such terms. In these days where the distinction between artist and playlist are becoming less distinct, the essence of audio art is becoming distilled in it’s import.
“The most important concept in music is not the way you play your tracks but the story you make with them! Mixing and music is my passion and my career. I hope to carry and share this as long as possible!” – Xavier Morel
Xavier Morel’s love of electronic music started on a faithful day in ’76 when he won Kraftwerk’s Radio Activity single at a winter fair.12 years later he was mixing at underground parties in the suburbs of London when one day he decided to go traveling. Amazingly he found his way onto a billing at Kho Phangan’s infamous New Years eve parties and then made his way to Japan. Since then Xavier has toured his sound all around Europe, Asia, Australia, the U.S.A and South America. From the mid ’90s, Xavier produced several tracks on various projects, mainly with Juno Reactor from 1996 to 2008, Prime Suspect, Section X, Eat Static, Fuel, Carcharodon, Megalodon. VX, The Delta & H229. In 2023 Xavier has just released his first solo EP ‘Destination Unknown’ as MX on Machine Label. His production have seen success with the likes of Speedy-J, Dave Clarke, Mike Parker, Bas Mooy, The Advent, Eric Sneo, Felix Krocher, Orion, Robert Liener, Arne (aka Extrawelt) etc. praising his releases.

With over 30 years of combined event experience, two of Melbourne’s longest running clubbing institutions MACHINE & TECHNOIR come together for all things Techno, spread over two levels each with topflight Funktion One sound system. Technoir chalks up it’s 18th consecutive Christmas party while also saying goodbye to it’s home of the past 3 years.
2022 has been one of our busiest years to date, with what will be five outings throughout the year, delivering some top-notch dancefloor experiences for the Technoir faithful.
Colour has provided us with a fantastic space to do so; in fact it has been a wonderful residence for some of the hardest and strangest years of our long history. Unfortunately even the best of things must, at some point, come to and end and this Christmas we must say farewell to this wonderful party space.
Joining us for this final show in ‘The Pleasure Dome’, we are excited to welcome Technoir first timer Jayde Isabel to the line-up, alongside returning guests Apsarah and Qualé. As always Technoir residents Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer will be on hand to steer the ship on this somewhat bittersweet occasion.
Somehow, even in the face of a global pandemic, Technoir has managed to not break with it’s now 18 year tradition of providing a place of celebration (or escape) on Christmas Day to those of the Techno persuasion, and we are so incredibly grateful and humbled to return to do it again this year.
2022 has been a lot for a lot of people this year, so why not come and commemorate its demise (or rejoice in having survived it) with a cathartic dance floor explosion??
These Christmas parties are always something special and we have no doubt this one will be one for the ages. Definitely one not to miss!

Technoir returns to Colour for a streamlined Techno DJ extravaganza!
For the first time since making Colour our home in late 2019, we will be condensing proceedings to just one room of concentrated Techno goodness, and providing a stellar selection of DJs for your dancing pleasure.
Making their Technoir debuts this time around, we have none other than Kazuma Onishi and Neo joining us for the first time. Both DJs have a unique take on the more hypnotic end of Techno and we are very much looking forward to hearing what they serve up on the night.
Returning in a slightly different form to her last appearance, we are also very happy to welcome back Lara K., who will be playing a DJ set for us this time.
Lara has been exploring DJing lately and is really enjoying laying down great and diverse sets in line with fantastic live shows.
Joining these amazing artists will of course be Technoir residents Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer.
We can’t wait to see you on the dance floor for a wonderfully cathartic night of dancing and connection!

After a 4 year absence, Technoir is returning to Queen’s Birthday Eve to host a sublime Techno party!
Once a year in and year out tradition, circumstances have put this date on the backburner for Technoir for quite some time now; but the planets have aligned this year and we couldn’t be happier!
There are many returning faces to this line-up but some have not graced our stage in a particularly long time.
Back at Technoir for the first time in 15 years, we are so incredibly over the moon to present Techno DJ master Ben Cromack, who will be showcasing his remarkable skills on the 1’s and 2s, 3’s, 4’s 5’s and 6’s! That’s right, you read correctly; Ben will be performing using two turntables and four CDJs, which he will use to weave a spectacular aural experience for the dancefloor.
Upstairs in our live performance space, we are so happy to welcome back the amazingly accomplished artist that is Jannah Quill. Former Technoir resident JK Roulé, who will be performing live for the first time in nearly 5 years, will also join the space upstairs, for an eclectic and no doubt acid-tinged live set.
Also returning to the DJ ranks will be many time Technoir visitor and Melbourne Techno mainstay, PWD. It’s always an absolute pleasure to have him come and contribute his considered Techno styling’s to proceedings and this time is sure to be no different.
Joining this cavalcade of electronic stars will of course be Technoir residents Dee Dee, Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer.
If you’re a fan of all things Techno, this is definitely not one to miss!

After a brief yet disheartening absence from the dancefloor, Technoir returns for 2022 with our mammoth Labour Day Eve party at Colour!
As we enter into our 18th year of parties, we are as committed as ever to bringing you the best Techno and Electronic artists Melbourne has to offer, in a space where music and connection is of the utmost importance.
Making their Technoir debut this time, we are very excited to welcome Dylab (Live) and L.S.S. (Live) to the stage of our live artist room upstairs. Dylab will be presiding over his epic all hardware set-up, which he uses to call all manner of Acid tinged Techno into existence. L.S.S. is a new project by the super talented Edward Richards and JXTPS that is also hardware based and seeks to be ‘crunchy, dirty and very live’.
Downstairs, we are very excited to have MTLDA joining us for the first time with her eclectic and thought provoking sounds alongside Technoir favourite Hyper Binary, who is returning to the Technoir stage for the first time in several years.
Technoir resident Dee Dee is also making a return after an absence of just over two years! Joining him will be the well-worn (but not worn out) residents Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer.
These last two years have taught us how much we should value these amazing spaces of cathartic release and connection that we love to share with you all.
We hope you can join us this time and many times in the future.

Even during a global pandemic, Technoir’s Annual Christmas Party cannot be stopped!
Here we are at the end of 2021 and boy was this one a bit of a dud, especially for those among us of the Techno persuasion!

This will be our first party with ‘normal’ conditions for nearly two years at our wonderful home Colour, as we take over both levels for a night of diverse Techno sounds.
Upstairs we are really excited to welcome one of Melbourne’s premier hardware-based live acts; Electro wizard Jani Ho.
Joining him up there will be Technoir favourite C:1; who returns after a long absence to grace us with an all vinyl Ghetto-Tech set! Also returning we have past Christmas guest XANTHRAXX, who will be bringing an eclectic blend of Techno flavoured party delights.

We honestly weren’t sure we’d make it here this year but thankfully Technoir’s Christmas tradition will mark its 16th consecutive event as we say ‘see ya’ to 2020!
It’s so exciting to be able to continue this Techno-centric Christmas ritual in the wonderful space of Colour, which has thankfully managed to weather the covid storm.
Things will definitely be a bit different this year, as we adhere to all the government guidelines relating to these sorts of events BUT we can dance again!
After such a long absence, it’s hard to believe we’ll be able to create a space for all of you to dance the night away, as we have done the last 15 years on Christmas night. Providing the dancefloor soundtrack for the night will be regular guests Qualé and DJ Kiti as well as Technoir residents Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer. Making their Technoir debut to round out the line-up are Deen Ariff, Ripplefactor of Savage Art Productions, Dialect of Aura Productions, Emmymaie and Spectralias aka Enclave (Live) from the Machine stable of artists. With the overwhelming success of our 15th Annual Christmas Party in December, we at Technoir are really excited to plant our roots in this new space while we continue to try to provide varied and unique Techno experience for all you wonderful souls on the dancefloor.
Once again, we are taking over both levels of Colour and bolstering our ranks with some of Melbourne’s finest purveyors of all things Techno.
Joining us for the first time will be JXTPS (Live), Λ / Π (Hybrid Set), Monfreaq, and Miss Farina. These artists have really caught our eye in recent times so we are really excited to have them all making their Technoir debut.

After a slightly extended hiatus over the colder months in Melbourne, Technoir is back in a new home to carry on it’s longest running tradition; our annual Christmas Party, which will see it’s 15th consecutive incarnation take place this December. We are exceptionally thrilled to be hosting our debut show at the newly opened Colour and are very much looking forward to putting this wonderful space through it’s paces very soon.
Time and time again (well 14 times to be precise), this event goes above and beyond expectations to provide one of the best nights of Techno for the year and we’re sure this year will be no different. In fact, this time; we’re going to need a bigger boat (or club in this case).
That’s right, this year’s event will take place over two levels in order to showcase a seriously solid selection of Techno acts from this fine city.
Making their Technoir debut will be Paul Lynch, TFG, and Lara K (Live) while returning guests include Concealed, Qualé and ACM (Live).
As always, these fine artists will be joined by Technoir’s resident rabble-rousers Dee Dee, Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Well it’s the end of an era.
14 years of wild and deranged parties at this iconic venue and this is it!
Technoir says goodbye to Lounge in the only way we know how; by getting some of the best Techno players in Melbourne together for one last night of connection and release through dancing to that music we love so, so much.
To this end; we’ve invited back some of our favourite guests from our time at Lounge in recent years.
First up we have the master of all things live, Acid and Techno; Honeysmack!
This one man institution has been twiddling knobs and taking names for longer that many modern Techno fans have been alive.
Known for his intense energy and outlandish stage presence, Honeysmack is sure to sort this party out with what it needs.
Next up we have two of our favourite DJs, who are fast approaching institution status in their own right; Chiara Kickdrum and PWD.
Unless you’ve been living under a Techno blocking rock for the past 8 or so years, you’re going to be very familiar with these two legends.
Clubs, festivals, overseas; they’ve done it all and then some.
We’re very excited to have them along for this one!
Finally, we have the resident DJs Simon Slieker, Dee Dee, and Ranjit Nijjer. The accumulated years of experience of these guys is sure to break just about any abacus, and it shows in Technoir’s longevity.
These guys are the musical backbone of the party and no doubt will be keen to leave their final mark on that Lounge dancefloor we all know and love.
It’s easy to get swept up in feelings of sadness and loss, as we farewell another Melbourne dance music institution; but lets try and see this as a celebration. A celebration of a truly wonderful space for like-minded souls to unite and dance the night away that has been a really special home for Technoir for all these years.
We hope you can join us for this momentous occasion 🙂

Christmas is staggeringly just around the corner but as has been the case for the last 13 years, we’re more excited about Technoir’s annual Christmas Party!
It boggles the mind that we’ve been undertaking this insanity for what will be 14 years come this December 25th!
Techno for Christmas?
At this point we don’t think it would be Christmas without it 🙂
This year we have a fantastic collection of Techno purveyors for your dancing pleasure, mostly of familiar variety but with one newcomer to Technoir’s stage.
Making her Technoir debut, we are excited to welcome the mysterious Techno entity that is Consoles. One of the most active and enthusiastic participants in Melbourne’s Techno scene, we are very much looking forward to her considered and refined take on Techno this Christmas.

After a couple of months off over the colder part of winter, Technoir is back for the first of two events before the end of 2018!
A long time ago a bunch of jokers decided to hold a horse race that some people surprisingly still care about; we’re just excited that we can use the public holiday as an excuse for an awesome night of proper Techno!
This is our second year doing this event and if last year’s was anything to go by, we seem to be onto a winner!
Not only is this the second time we’re partying on this date, but this time of year also marks 14 years since the inception of Technoir itself!
Holy cow that’s a long time in Techno land!
We must be doing something right?
Joining us this time we have some really fantastic guests, both first timers and returning.
Andrew Till of Machine needs little introduction. He’s one of the most accomplished artists of Australian dance music, period.
We’re very excited to have him grace the stage at Technoir for the first time!
Concealed are a red hot DJ duo that are leading the charge of the younger generation of up-and-coming Techno DJs in Melbourne. Their deep and thoughtful take on Techno will make a very welcome addition to the night as they also make their Technoir debut.
DJ Kiti needs very little introduction, both in general and also at Technoir. She’s made numerous appearances behind the decks for us over the years and we are as humbled as ever to once again host one of the icons of Melbourne’s electronic scene.
Joining these all-stars will as always be the resident heavy hitters Simon Slieker, Dee Dee and Ranjit Nijjer.

Returning for the third year in a row (that’s gotta be saying something?), we are elated to have the brothers Techno, Hyper Binary, back in the saddle to bring their ultra slick Techno stylings to Technoir once again.

13 freakin years??!?!?!?!
It’s a little surreal to be writing copy for this event for the 13th year in a row (granted, we weren’t running Facebook events back in the early days).
One of the longest running permanent fixtures on the Techno calendar of Melbourne returns once again for it’s 13th year in a row.
Christmas means a lot to different things to people but for us, it’s meant Techno for a VERY long time!
This year, we’ve got some returning friends in the form of ACM (Live) and Qualé, but we are also very excited to welcome Luke Agius as he makes his Technoir debut!

Simon has supplied us with a follow-up piece to his very well received ‘DJ System Wars” a few months back.
This time he’s sharing his experiences with a new piece of DJ hardware that was supposed to make his life much easier…

Technoir is back for our first ever Cup Eve Party!
After our third Queen’s Birthday eve party in June, we just couldn’t wait to head back to Lounge again for more Techno!
This party also lands very close to the 13th anniversary of Technoir’s inception back in 2004, so we’re extra excited for this one!
We’re so happy to welcome back some of our favourite past guests in form of Melbourne Techno heavyweights Adrian Bell (Bunker) and PWD (The Public Works Department).
Joiing them will be JK Roulé (Live), one half of former Technoir resident live act Tronikelesch, who returns to our stage for the first time in two years.
Resident DJs Dee Dee, Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer are of course, to be expected.

12 years!
When we first started running this event all those years, little did we know that we would have such an enduring and meaningful event on our hands.
Once a year, no matter what was happening in the greater world of Technoir, we would always head to Lounge for a massive Techno blowout after whatever sort of day people had had.
Some people love it because it offers them an escape and a distraction from a day they’d rather forget, whereas others would see it as the capper on a day of celebration. Several people over the years have confessed that it’s their one night out a year.
Uniting all these people, each and every time, has been a meaningful love of all things Techno and a strong desire to dance.
We have a pretty good feeling history will repeat itself this year.
Reisdent DJs Dee Dee, Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer have been there for nearly every single event always bring something very special to the table – this time will be no exception.
Alongside them we welcome back three of our favourite DJs in the form of DJ Kiti, Matt Radovich and Qualé, who will also be joined by ACM (Live) making his Technoir debut.

After a bit of a break during the first half of this year, Technoir is back!
We had such a great time partying at Lounge last year for the Queen’s Birthday, that we thought we’d do it again and boy do we have some great music lined up for your dancing pleasure!
First up we welcome Technoir first timers Joey and Yanni Sarantis, who will be laying down their signature brand of smooth but tough Techno.
Then, we are very excited to welcome Steeplejack’s own Nali, who will be showcasing his beautiful productions in a very special live set, in which he’ll be tapping into the harder end of his repertoire.
Next, we welcome back repeat offenders PWD of the Public Works Department and Chiara Kickdrum; however this time Chiara will be making her live debut at Technoir.
Finally, we are proud to present our own resident DJs Ranjit Nijjer, Simon Slieker and Dee Dee.
Just to make things a little more special, Simon Slieker and Dee Dee will be playing a VS set featuring music exclusively from their time as resident DJs at Melbourne Techno institution Teriyaki Anarki Saki; on vinyl no less.

Christmas is coming and that means, so is Technoir’s Annual Christmas Party.
This event marks the Technoir crew taking over Lounge for the 11th consecutive year and this time, we’re thinking big.
Resident artists Dee Dee, Simon Slieker, and Ranjit Nijjer will be returning once again alongside a selection of some of the finest Techno talent in Melbourne.
Long time friend of Technoir, Qualé, will be returning once more alongside semi-recent repeat offenders Adrian Bell, Chiara Kickdrum, and DJ Kiti. Matt Radovich will be making his first Technoir appearance in nearly 10 years so get ready for a good one.
A larger than usual line-up means a special extended running time of a minimum of 10 hours, which means there will be extended sets from some of the DJS.
Don’t forget about some pretty serious décor around the venue to help with the immersive partying experience.
Whether you’re trying to forget about Christmas, or trying to keep the celebration going; join us at Technoir for the perfect way to finish off the day.
