From humble beginnings in the dungeon of ‘Deep 11’ in 2004 to warehouses and clubs around Melbourne, including ten consecutive Christmas parties at ‘Lounge’, Technoir is very excited to invite you to join them in their 11th Birthday celebrations at ‘The Sub Club’!

Technoir’s list of guests over the years is quite extensive. With many of Melbourne’s top producers and DJs, past and present, having graced the stage over the last decade as well as several international Techno superstars; Technoir has once again assembled an amazing bunch of talent once again to fulfil all your party needs.

We are incredibly proud and humbled to welcome DJ Slack, founder of legendary party institution ‘Teriyaki Anarki Saki’. With a resume to make just about any DJ and promoter envious, DJ Slack has done just about everything there is to do in Techno land. Last appearing at Technoir in 2008, Dj Slack has rarely performed in the interim, as he has been focused on a career behind the scenes in the theatre industry; however we are lucky enough to have been able to persuade him to provide us with a vinyl only ‘classics’ set that will no doubt bring the house down.

Speaking of bringing the house down, when we celebrated our 10th birthday last year, one of the sets that most impressed us was from first time Technoir guest but long-time mainstay of Melbourne’s DJ circuit, C:1. Despite mostly gigging as a rock-solid DnB and Jungle DJ, C:1 is a long-time Techno lover and a seriously kick-arse mixer to boot. We are very excited to have her back to showcase her Detroit influenced, high energy style.

Joining these amazing guests will of course be Technoir resident DJs Simon Slieker and Ranjit Nijjer, as well as one half of Tronikelesch in the form of JK Roulé (live).

Technoir, as always, aims to create the full spectrum party experience and as such you can be sure to expect an excellent sound system and lots of attention to décor and lighting. This is a celebration after all.

We would really love you to come down to help us celebrate this amazing milestone with us as without all the amazing support from this city over the years, we wouldn’t be here today – this party is our way of saying thank you.

Line-up:
DJ Slack (Teriyaki Anarki Saki)
C:1
Simon Slieker
JK Roule (Live)
Ranjit Nijjer

Wow!
That was great!

It was so much fun to dust off the old Technoir machine for a mid-year party for the first time in nearly 5 years; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope that those that attended did too.

Keep an eye out for new ‘articles’ in the coming weeks (hopefully) as well was details of our next event a little later in the year as we celebrate 11 years of party magic 🙂

Here’s a collection of audio recordings from the night; all sets are accounted for with the exception of Harold whose recording succumbed to technical problems.

Technoir_2 Technoir is back and ready for their first, just for fun mid-year party, in nearly four years; and boy are we excited! After the phenomenal success of our 10th birthday and 10th annual Christmas party celebrations; we have felt a great sense of enthusiasm about contributing slightly more regular events to the now ever burgeoning Techno scene here in Melbourne. To that end, we thought we’d head back to one of our all-time favourite venues with some awesome artists and throw one hell of a party! Returning to grace the Technoir stage after their recent stellar individual performances late last year are DJ Kiti and Chiara Kickdrum who will be performing an extended back-to-back set in the late hours of the morning to close out the party. If you’ve ever seen these ladies play, you’ll know that this will be something truly special. Making their debut at Technoir this time we are extremely proud and honoured to welcome Harold and Tercat (Live). Harold of ‘Steeplejack’ fame has cemented himself as one of the bright young stars of the DJ scene, brandishing both superb selections and rock solid skills. Despite only performing for the first time together in January this year, live duo Tercat (Andy Muscat AKA ACM & Jonathan Terlato) have already become an act to pay serious attention to in Techno land. Heavily favouring all manner of hardware to create a raw and tough dancefloor experience, these guys are sure to put on an excellent show. Simon Slieker, Dee Dee and Ranjit Nijjer will be the resident sonic curators for the evening as they showcase their collective experience of over 50 years of DJing; nearly a decade of which has been as the backbone of the Technoir sound. As always, we will try and create an immersive experience for our guests through creative décor and lighting that acts as a perfect compliment to the high intensity Techno sounds.

Into the future for Technoir

This marks a bit of a new era for Technoir, having just had our 10th birthday celebrations late last year.
As well as making a return to more regular events here in Melbourne, Technoir is going to try and contribute somewhat to the ever continuing discourse of all things Techno in the form of a semi-regular article or discussion piece series that will be posted on this site. It’s still in the beta stage but we really hope it’s something that could evolve into a great forum for the discussion of the thing we love here at Technoir; Techno 🙂

We’ve also got pages for our lovely resident artists, most of whom have been there from day one in one form or another, where you can find all the latest online music from them.

It’s also exciting to be able to collate and present a significant portion of our past flyers and some selected photographs, there some some amazing parties and memories in there.

And finally, this is where you’ll be able to find out about any upcoming gigs Technoir has planned!
